Free floristry ebook from the Gilded Lily

We all know flowers can make the perfect gift for almost any occasion, but as we’ve said so many times, blooms from the garage forecourt or local supermarket aren’t a patch on a well-thought-out arrangement hand-crafted by your local, independent florist. (more…)

Mother's Day flowers from the Gilded Lily

It might seem clichéd, but Mums really do still love to receive flowers on Mother’s Day – or any other time of the year, if it comes to that. So, now that Mothering Sunday is nearly upon us, maybe it’s time – for the benefit of all the bewildered kids out there – to take a fresh look (see what we did there) at why Mums just love those beautiful blooms. Summer wedding flowers

You can’t fail to have noticed that the great British summer has arrived in earnest. (And if you haven’t noticed, I hope it’s nice and cosy beneath that rock you must be living under!) But as you all head for the nearest park on your days off, and lounge majestically on garden chairs, it’s worth bearing us florists in mind, as we work to make your wedding flowers the best they can be, under surprisingly tough conditions.

Independent wedding flowers from The Gilded Lily

Nowadays, a lot of people seem to have a bad case of the “I can do thats”. Skills which used to be respected as specialised fields of expertise are gradually becoming saturated marketplaces. Photographers, for example, are springing up faster than you can count them – but they’re not real photographers with years of skill behind them, they’re just hobbyists who could afford a nice camera and some business cards. And now, it’s the same with the world of wedding flowers – but it’s not just untrained individuals crashing in, it’s some of the largest names on the high street. (more…)

Michelle and Adam

… & how stunning did she look ? ! with the very handsome Adam – the happy couple were married at the fabulous Hoghton Tower just a couple of days before Christmas Day – The Gilded LIly worked with Michelle & her Mum to create a themed look but without being too Christmassy.

When Hannah asked me to add “lots of diamante brooches” to her wedding bouquet I wasn’t too sure – but the outcome I hope you’ll agree was stunning !

Rebecca & Julian were married at All Angels RC Church in Bury & what a beautiful day. The sun shone on this most vibrant weddings & that wasn’t only the flowers !!

All the wedding party were so excited & with 10 (yes 10 !) bridesmaids who wouldn’t be !!.

The girls looked stunning in their white gowns & the flowers reflected the fab colour of the girls shoes.

Rebecca looked amazing in her stunning gown – but check out those hair flowers !!

Trailing ribbons in a riot of colour finished the bouquets – never have I seen such a riot of shades.

I’ll so miss working with Rebecca – her excitement was so infectious.

Good Luck at Marks & Spencer Rebecca !!
