Entries for February, 2013

It can sometimes be tempting to talk about “the wedding flowers” as one homogenous mass of floristry. It almost begs a couple of extra capital letters: “Who’s doing The Flowers for your wedding?” But when a couple commissions me to create floral arrangements for their wedding, it’s really a series of smaller steps, each one playing its part in the overall look of the day.

It’s that time of year again… the card shops are awash with hearts and balloons, and on the 14th of this month we’re all supposed to show that “special someone” just how much we care, but without revealing our names. (As if they won’t recognise our handwriting!) Over-commercialised it may be, but it has to be said, there’s something inherently enjoyable about showing someone you care.
